Applications are now open for the MINDS Scholarship Programme for Leadership Development 2025.



This programme was launched in 2017 to nurture young African leaders with a focus on developing a continent-wide mindset and fostering cooperation between African nations.

It offers students the opportunity to study in an African country outside their own, immersing them in new cultures and perspectives.

The programme aims to create a network of leaders who will drive positive progress and growth across Africa.

Scholarship Benefits

The MINDS Scholarship provides financial support, covering partial or full expenses such as:Tuition fees.
Accommodation and meals.
One return flight for the duration of studies.
A fixed stipend for living expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the MINDS Scholarship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:Be a national of an African country and currently reside in an African country.
Be formally accepted by one or more MINDS preferred institutions outside their country of citizenship or residency.
Be accepted to pursue postgraduate studies starting in the following year.
Have achieved at least 70% in each subject or course over the past two years of study.
Demonstrate leadership abilities or potential, supported by responses to questions in the application form.
Submit a complete online application with the required documentation.
Preferred Institutions for the MINDS Scholarship

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be accepted to study at one of the following institutions:

Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda, Rwanda.
Makerere University, Uganda.
Strathmore University, Kenya.
Southern AfricaAfrican Leadership University, Mauritius.
University of Cape Town, South Africa.
University of Mauritius, Mauritius.
University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
North AfricaAl Akhawayn University, Morocco.
Université Cadi Ayyad, Morocco.
Université Mohammed V, Morocco.
West AfricaKwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Ghana.
Pan-Atlantic University (Lagos Business School), Nigeria.
University of Development Studies, Ghana.
Application Requirements

All documents submitted must be in PDF format and must not exceed 2MB in size.

Applicants must include the following documents:A copy of the data page of your passport.
A certified academic transcript for the last two years of study.
A copy of the official acceptance letter from the university.
A copy of a valid study permit or visa (optional).
A detailed CV or Resume (no more than four single-sided pages).
Two reference letters addressing the applicant’s leadership potential and commitment to African development.
