Programme Duration

The duration for postgraduate programmes is as follows:Professional Masters: 2 to 4 Semesters
Master of Business Administration: 4 to 6 Semesters
M.A/M.Ed./M.Sc./M.Sc.(Ed): 4 to 6 Semesters
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): 6 to 10 Semesters
Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma

The following qualifications are required for Postgraduate Diploma admission:Graduates of recognised universities.
Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant areas.
Candidates with other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.
Master’s Degree

To qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes:Graduates of recognised universities with at least a Second-Class Honours degree in a relevant field.
Candidates with a University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma from UMYU or another recognised University with at least a Credit level pass.
Candidates with other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.
Professional Masters

For Professional Masters’ degree admission:Graduates of recognised universities with at least Second-Class Honours degree in a relevant field.
Candidates with a Third-Class degree and at least five years of relevant working experience.
Holders of HND with at least a Credit pass in Postgraduate Diploma from UMYU or another recognised institution in a relevant area.
Candidates with other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

To qualify for the PhD admission:Graduates of recognised universities with a good Master’s Degree in the proposed area of study.
Graduates with a Master of Philosophy degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a five-point scale in a relevant field.
A Bachelors degree in a relevant field with at least a Second Class lower division.
Candidates with other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.

Candidates must submit a 500-word synopsis of the proposed research topic.
Matriculation Requirement

Candidates must meet the University’s matriculation requirements, which include five relevant Credit Passes at O’level, including English and Mathematics.
Selection Process

All candidates will undergo a selection process, which may include a screening/entrance examination. The date will be announced on the University Website.
Application Process

Interested candidates can apply online through the Postgraduate Application Portal from 19th August 2024 to 31st December 2024.

The application fee is N10,500.

Duly completed application forms and supporting documents should be forwarded to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.

All candidates must request their previous institutions to send their academic transcripts either as a soft copy via email to [email protected] or as a hard copy to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, before the application deadline.
