Overview of AfDB-Japan Africa Dream Scholarship
The AfDB-Japan Africa Dream Scholarship is a joint effort by the African Development Bank and the Government of Japan.
The goal is to build human resource capacity in Africa.
The programme aligns with the African Development Bank’s High 5 priorities:Feed Africa
Light up and power Africa
Industrialise Africa
Integrate Africa
Improve the quality of life of the people of Africa
These priorities match key Japanese development assistance goals.
Award Details
The scholarship provides:Full Tuition: Covers all tuition fees.
Monthly Stipend: 140,000 JPY for living expenses, though this amount may change.
Travel Expenses: Economy class air travel to and from APU at the start and end of the programme.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the AfDB-Japan Africa Dream Scholarship, you must:Be a citizen of an AfDB member country.
Be 35 years old or younger.
Hold a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as energy, agriculture, health, environmental sustainability, or engineering.
Have excellent academic records and relevant professional experience.
Have at least one year of paid work experience in your home country or other African nations within the past three years.
Be residing and working in your home country.
Not already be enrolled in a graduate degree programme.
Not be an Executive Director, their alternate, or staff of the African Development Bank Group, or a close relative of these individuals.
Agree to return to your home country after completing the programme to contribute to its development.
How to Apply
Apply for this scholarship through the APU Online Application.
Submit the application by 16th September 2024 for April 2025 enrolment or by 10th January 2025 for September 2025 enrolment.
No separate application form or additional documents are needed for the scholarship.
